The festivities for our annual Rainbow Graduation and Induction into the LGBT Chapter of the UCSD Alumni Association will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 at 4:00pm at ERC's Great Hall.

As each academic year draws to a close, the LGBT Resource Center prepares for our annual Rainbow Graduation Celebration and Induction into the LGBT Chapter of the Alumni Association. At this time, we come together as a community to celebrate and commemorate our achievements, the graduating class and recognize outstanding LGBT scholars. This year's program and ceremony will be very exciting, featuring:

An address from UCSD Chancellor Marye Anne Fox

A Keynote speech from an outstanding graduate, TBD

A keynote speaker to be determined by the class of 2008

Honors from the UCSD LGBT organizations to specific individuals

Announcement of the Trent Lawley Memorial Award recipient

Announcement of our 2008-2009 LGBT Scholarship recipients

A scrumptious catered reception

All graduates are encouraged to invite their families, friends and colleagues to this special celebration. Let's make this a bigger than ever "family" event in both the literal and the figurative sense!!

All are encourage to participate, so if you would like to assist us in setting-up/cleaning-up, please contact Anthony Nuñez at anunez@ucsd.edu. Juniors are especially encouraged to volunteer as we establish a new tradition for our community.

NOTE: This is not an official graduation ceremony. No diplomas will be given. However, undergraduates will be given a fine certificate and rainbow tassel to wear on their mortarboards at their official college graduation ceremonies (should they wish to do so), and graduate students will be honored with a certificate and a sash to wear on their gowns at their official graduate commencement ceremonies (should they wish to attend). This is our way of thanking our departing folks for their contribution to our community and allowing them to show their pride in that same community.

If you are graduating from UCSD who would like to be included in the Rainbow Graduation program, receive a special certificate and celebrate the achievements of the community and the Class of 2008, then we want to hear from you!! Here's what you should do:

1. Send us your information by filling out the registration form below.
2. Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 7th, 2008 4:00pm.
3. Be proud of yourselves (because we certainly are!!)

Finally, let any and all graduating folks know about this wonderful ceremony. This includes LGBTQI-identified students and allies. Good luck in all your endeavors, Seniors, and thank you for contributing to our wonderful community!!
