As the academic year winds down, we gear up for our largest summer event:
San Diego Pride.
If you are leaving for the summer but have an opportunity to return , this is THE weekend
you want to be here:
July 20th, 21st and
22nd, 2007.
For those who are around for the summer, our community comes together as a whole to plan
and implement this powerful weekend of visibility and celebration. Before the LGBT Resource
Center existed,
the UCSD LGBT Staff and Faculty Association (formerly the Umbrella Group)
had taken the lead role in organizing UCSD's role in the
weekend, and it is with joy that we continue to honor that historic and continued role that
UCSD employees have played in the success of this event.
We will be having four planning meetings over the course of the summer to brainstorm and
prepare implementation plans for the parade and festival weekend. Your voice and vision
(as well as hard work) is vital to making our float and booth a true reflection of our most
creative and exciting ideas and connections. We have varied the times so that many folks
will have the opportunity to join us in the fun. Please plan on making one or more of these
dates over the course of the next few weeks!
The dates and times are:
- Wednesday, June 20: 12-1pm
- Thursday, June 28: 4-5pm
- Tuesday, July 10: 4-5pm
- Tuesday, July 17: 12-1pm
The theme for this year is
United for Equality! So get those creative juices
flowing! If you can not make it to the meetings, but want to stay involved in the planning,
please e-mail Shaun at
stravers@ucsd.edu, as we will
have meeting reports mailed out to those who show up and/or want to be involved.
