The Speaker's Bureau Mission Statement:

The UCSD LGBT Speaker’s Bureau is comprised of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender queer, gender variant, gender non-conforming, queer, questioning, intersex and straight ally identified students, staff and faculty dedicated to dispelling stereotypes, creating open, frank dialogue, and providing education about the LGBT community. It seeks to challenge existing beliefs about the relationship between sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression while also affirming these identities in panelists and facilitators. The LGBT Speakers Bureau creates and sustains visibility, pride, and a sense of community for all diverse queer people.

The Academic Panel

Speaker's Bureau Panel The most basic is an "Academic Panel" of 3-5 panelists who introduce themselves and answer questions about LGBT issues and experiences. This panel is very informative and is excellent for large and small groups.

Queer Inquiry: An Identity Game Show

This game show-like program features a panel of LGBT and Ally identified people. The panelists answer any questions except those that would directly reveal their sexual orientation and gender identity. Afterwards, the panelists reveal their true orientation and gender identity and answer questions about their experiences, both on campus and in their personal lives. This panel is excellent for groups such as student organizations, residential halls, and classroom groups.

Hollywood Queers

Our newest panel has audience members guessing about LGBT trivia, al la the TV game show "Hollywood Squares." Panelists are the "celebrities" who answer questions from everything LGBT.

Coming Out Stories

In our lives, we all have “come out” to one person or another, even if that person is just ourselves. The Coming out Stories Panel is a more intimate way to share that story.  This panel is for those who are more familiar with our community.  Think of it as LGBT 201.

Would you like to arrange a program for your group? Fill out this form to request a program at least two weeks in advance. We will communicate with you to arrange a great panel for your group!
